Thanks to its 512-note sequencer flexible arpeggiator high-quality FX engines and deep modulation capabilities CARBON8 empowers musicians to build complex compositions shape intricate evolving textures and explore previously uncharted sonic territories. Connectivity options are equally robust supporting seamless integration into any modern rig with full-size MIDI USB-MIDI analog sync I/O and expression pedal inputs. Combined with MODALapp for intuitive control the CARBON8 represents the next generation of polyphonic synthesis offering limitless creative potential for both beginners and seasoned professionals.

Brand

Modal Electronics

Modal Electronics builds modern synthesisers and desktop modules, with the Argon and Cobalt families representing wavetable and virtual-analogue approaches. The catalogue includes eight-voice keyboard instruments, compact modules and the Carbon range, giving players several ways to access deep digital sound design. Modal instruments typically combine substantial modulation and sequencing facilities with USB, MIDI and software integration. Check polyphony, key size, desktop versus keyboard format and the exact oscillator architecture: Argon, Cobalt and Carbon are related by brand, not identical in synthesis method.

Category

Synthesizers

Explore hardware synthesisers for sound design, performance and music production. This collection includes analogue, digital, hybrid, FM and wavetable instruments in keyboard, desktop and modular formats. Compare the synthesis method, polyphony, keybed, sequencer, effects and MIDI or CV connectivity to find an instrument that fits your studio, live setup and preferred way of creating sounds.

Tags

Analog

Products using analogue sound-generation or signal-processing circuitry, also commonly written as analog. Analogue instruments shape continuously varying electrical signals and are often chosen for direct controls, natural variation and a character that responds organically to performance and modulation.

MIDI

Products that send, receive or process Musical Instrument Digital Interface data. MIDI carries performance and control information rather than audio, allowing keyboards, synthesisers, sequencers, computers and other equipment to play and synchronise with one another.

Polyphonic

Instruments capable of playing multiple notes or voices at the same time. Polyphony supports chords, layered pads and overlapping notes, although the available voice count and how voices are allocated vary between instruments.

Sequencer

Products with dedicated note, rhythm, MIDI or control-voltage sequencing capabilities. A sequencer records or generates musical events and sends them to internal sounds or connected instruments, often providing step programming, pattern chaining and performance controls.

Synth

Products centred on electronic sound generation and synthesis. This tag brings together keyboard, desktop, modular and performance instruments that create or substantially shape their own sounds rather than serving only as controllers.
