Paying Homage
First introduced in the '80s – and only available for 3 years in total – the original Mono/Poly synth established itself as a go-to piece of gear for many electronic artists of the era. This has made it a sought after instrument for many collectors.
However, thanks to this affordable cloning of the original model, synth-heads everywhere can experiment with the same great sounds and features that made the first Mono/Poly tick. From the pure analog signal path modelled on the originals circuitry, to '80s VCA, VCF and VCO designs, and versatile key modes (for polyphonic, duophonic and monophonic styles), experiment with the very same engineering and sonic tools.
Sound Shaping
These all contribute to intuitive and fun shaping of your sounds that are heavily influenced by old-school electronica. Play everything from dynamic, intriguing lead tones, to punchy, sludgy bass and bright ambiences.
With four VCOs – each with four switchable waveshapes – there's plenty of tonal building blocks available. You can adjust each VCO's level, tuning and octave with dedicated knobs too; they can be blended with differing waveshapes as well for even more developed sounds.
A VCA and VCF have also been incorporated into the MonoPoly. Both contain an ADSR – ensuring you can tweak the shape of your envelope. This results in contrasting notes, whether that's longer, drawn out drones, or sharp percussive bursts. Further augmentation of these sounds comes in the form of the noise knob, which as its name suggests, adds white noise.
Keys & Controls
You'll be playing these sounds using the 37 semi-weighted keys. Modulation depth is altered via the MG1 wheel, while the pitch can be decreased or increased from the bend wheel. Add to this 62 buttons and knobs in total (positioned on the tilting top panel), outputs and inputs for oscillator pitch, filter cutoff and more, and there's a tonne of creative avenues available to you here.
