At its heart is a 20-watt EL84 power section and Synergy’s patented all-valve modular preamp platform, letting you swap modules to access the exact front ends of iconic amps without changing your combo. The SYN-20IR combo is built around Synergy’s modular preamp system, so you can slot in any compatible two-channel module and instantly access the circuitry and feel of legendary amplifiers. Each module uses dual 12AX7 valves and is designed in collaboration with the original amp brands for authentic response, often adding extra flexibility compared to the amps they are based on. The Reactance control behaves like a highly advanced presence circuit, dynamically shaping the mids and highs to match your chosen module and Structure mode, so you can dial in the exact feel and cut you want from the power section.
Built-in IRs and cab-less operation
A dedicated digital engine with a 500 MHz ARM DSP powers the SYN-20IR’s onboard impulse responses and power amp simulation with less than 1 ms of latency. Four IR presets can be assigned individually to each channel from the front panel, and you can manage the 13 included IRs and load your own favourites via the free Synergy Editor software. Crucially, the combo can run safely without an external cabinet, sending a convincing miked-cab sound direct via XLR or headphones, making it ideal for silent stages, late-night practice and streamlined recording setups.
