Swifty artwork captures the spirit of underground sound This special version of Bass Station II features exclusive artwork from Ian “Swifty” Swift a designer widely known for his work with Mo’ Wax Talkin’ Loud and Straight No Chaser magazine. His visual approach blends influences from 90s street culture rave flyers stencil typography and record sleeve design. This limited-edition panel design gives the Bass Station II a new identity rooted in the same countercultural energy that has defined its sound. The custom graphics are printed directly onto the chassis replacing the standard layout with a vibrant highly stylised version that still maintains a logical and performance-friendly control scheme. For artists who value individuality in their setup this edition adds a visual depth that stands out in both home studios and live rigs. AFX Mode opens up creative possibilities across the keyboard Originally developed with Richard D. James also known as Aphex Twin AFX Mode turns the Bass Station II into a much more flexible instrument. This feature allows a different patch to be assigned to each individual key on the keyboard. You can spread variations of the same sound across the octaves to add expression or load completely different patches onto each note to create layered textures multi-sound performances or full drum kits. AFX Mode is ideal for live improvisation experimental composition and detailed production workflows. All patches can be stored backed up and managed using Novation’s Components platform which runs in Chrome or as a desktop app. Full analog voice architecture with intuitive layout The Bass Station II features a true analog signal path designed to deliver rich warm tones suitable for basslines leads and evolving textures. It includes two tuneable oscillators with multiple waveforms and octave control as well as a dedicated sub-oscillator that adds weight and depth to the low end. Additional sound sources include white noise ring modulation and pulse width modulation giving users a wide range of tonal starting points. Two filter types with advanced modulation options The filter section includes two selectable analog filter types: Classic and Acid. Each filter type provides 12 dB and 24 dB slope options with variable resonance and overdrive. These filters are capable of self-oscillation and saturation for aggressive characterful tones. Modulation is handled by two LFOs and two ADSR envelopes which can be routed to key destinations including pitch filter cutoff and amplitude. The front panel includes dedicated knobs and switches for every major parameter so users can shape sounds quickly and intuitively without relying on menus or displays. Created sounds can be saved to any of the 64 onboard user slots. An additional 64 factory patches are pre-installed to provide starting points and inspiration across genres. Sequencing connectivity and performance integration The onboard arpeggiator and step sequencer allow users to create melodic content directly from the front panel. The step sequencer supports real-time recording and lets you store sequences along with your patches for easy recall during live sets. The synth is also capable of paraphonic play meaning two notes can sound at once when using both oscillators. This expands performance and harmonic possibilities without changing the core monophonic layout. In terms of connectivity Bass Station II supports USB MIDI for direct connection to DAWs class-compliant operation without additional drivers traditional 5-pin MIDI In and Out for syncing with other hardware a sustain pedal input for expressive playing and an external audio input that lets you process other gear through its filters. The dedicated headphone output makes it suitable for quiet practice sound design or on-the-go sessions. These features make it equally reliable as a studio centrepiece or a portable live tool.
