The Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators offer an imaginative new way of creating electronic music on the go. Pocket operators are small, ultra portable synth devices, with studio quality sound and the flexibility to make music on the go.

Each calculator shaped operator has it’s own distinctive character and soundset,  featuring unique graphical animations that are remeniscent of classic 80’s tech (Game & Watch anyone?). These animations look awesome but the real pride of the pocket operator is it’s studio quality tones and engaging user interface, allowing you to create patterns and sounds that can be synched to other pocket operators and compatible with the rest of your studio gear.

It may look like a simple toy, but each operator will be a bit of a pocket rocket to your creativity! What’s more they’re super fun to use and don’t cost an arm and a leg; the perfect choice for a beginner.

All pocket operator models perfectly complement each other. from drum machine, bass and lead synthesizers to noise percussion, the six unique units allow you to start a pocket band. use them separately or connect them together, the choice is yours.

Once you’ve got the one, you may not be able to resist the temptation to slowly build up your collection until you’ve got them all!

all six units feature:

  • 16-step sequencer
  • 16 patterns
  • parameter locks
  • built-in speaker
  • 3.5mm audio I/O
  • jam sync
  • animated LCD display
  • folding stand
  • clock + alarm clock
  • battery powered (2XAAA)
  • 1 month battery life
  • 2 year standby time

clever design, high quality.

pocket operators are designed on a single multiple-layer circuit board using high quality components. they all share a compact and durable form factor.

by placing all vital and sensitive components under the LCD display there’s no need for an outer case. by saving this cost, high quality components could be used to guarantee the best possible sound and very low power consumption. the space under the display also doubles as a speaker box.

About Teenage Engineering

We have new and used Teenage Engineering musical equipment available on our website for fast direct delivery from sellers across the UK & Europe.

Teenage Engineering is a Swedish electronics company known for its innovative and design-driven audio equipment. Founded in 2007 by Jesper Kouthoofd, David Eriksson, Jens Rudberg, and David Möllerstedt, the company quickly gained a reputation for blending functionality with minimalistic aesthetics. Their flagship product, the OP-1 synthesiser, released in 2011, revolutionised portable music production with its compact size, intuitive interface, and playful design. The OP-1 became iconic due to its versatility, allowing musicians to create everything from beats and loops to entire tracks on a single device. This commitment to user experience and creative expression has been central to Teenage Engineering’s ethos, making them a standout in an industry dominated by traditional designs.

In addition to the OP-1, Teenage Engineering expanded its range with products like the Pocket Operator series—affordable, pocket-sized synths with distinct visual styles and sound capabilities. Their collaboration with IKEA resulted in the FREKVENS collection, bringing music-making tools to mainstream audiences. The company’s emphasis on quality, design, and innovation extends to newer releases such as the OP-Z and the TX-6, a tiny but powerful mixer. Through their focus on simplicity, playful design, and powerful sound tools, Teenage Engineering has cultivated a passionate community of creatives, cementing their status as pioneers in electronic music hardware.
