Description
The Moog Matriarch Dark is a powerful semi-modular analogue synthesiser built around four analogue oscillators, dual filters, dual envelopes, stereo VCAs and a stereo analogue delay. Its flexible architecture delivers everything from huge monophonic basses and leads to rich four-note paraphonic sequences, with no patching required to start creating. Underneath its distinctive all-black finish is a deeply versatile instrument inspired by classic Moog circuitry. The four oscillators offer selectable waveshapes, with hard sync available on oscillators 2, 3 and 4, while the dual filters can operate in parallel, stereo or series configurations. A 256-step sequencer, arpeggiator and MIDI connectivity provide extensive performance options, while 90 patch points open up much deeper modular exploration. The Matriarch Dark is equally at home as a standalone synthesiser, external effects processor or keyboard controller for other modular equipment. Its 49-note Fatar keyboard provides velocity sensitivity and aftertouch, while the extensive CV connectivity allows the instrument to integrate with Eurorack systems and other Moog semi-modular instruments. With its combination of classic analogue circuitry, extensive modulation and flexible routing, Matriarch Dark is designed for detailed sound design and expressive performance.Key Features Four Analogue Oscillators – Create everything from powerful monophonic sounds to four note paraphonic textures using selectable waveshapes and oscillator hard sync. 90 Modular Patch Points – Explore extensive signal routing and modulation possibilities, connecting Matriarch’s internal modules or integrating it with external modular equipment. Stereo Analogue Delay – Add spacious echoes with independent left and right delay times, ping pong operation, feedback control and MIDI or CV synchronisation. Flexible Paraphonic Synthesis: Matriarch Dark combines four analogue oscillators with flexible mono, duo and four note paraphonic operation. Each oscillator offers selectable waveforms, while oscillators 2, 3 and 4 feature hard sync for creating harmonically complex tones. The oscillators feed into a versatile mixer and dual analogue filter section, which can be configured for parallel, stereo or series operation. Dual ADSR envelopes and stereo VCAs provide further control over the instrument’s dynamics and signal routing. Whether you want a powerful four-oscillator bass, expressive lead or evolving paraphonic sequence, Matriarch’s analogue architecture provides a broad range of sound design possibilities. Deep Modular Connectivity: Although Matriarch Dark can be played without any patching, its semi-modular architecture provides 90 patch points for extensive experimentation. The connections give access to oscillators, filters, envelopes, VCAs, modulation sources and other internal functions, allowing you to reshape the signal path and create complex modulation networks. Three bipolar voltage-controlled attenuators provide additional routing flexibility, including ring modulation capabilities, while two four-way passive mults make it easy to distribute signals. Matriarch can also process external instruments through its 1/4 inch audio input, making it useful as an analogue processor for guitars, drum machines and other sound sources. Performance and Sequencing: The Matriarch Dark combines its extensive synthesis engine with a 49-note Fatar keyboard featuring velocity sensitivity and aftertouch. These expressive controls can be routed through the synthesiser’s patchable architecture, providing additional control over modulation and performance parameters. A 256-step sequencer supports up to four notes per step, with 12 stored pattern locations and the ability to sequence external equipment independently. The built-in arpeggiator offers Order, Forward and Backwards, and Random modes for generating patterns quickly. A stereo analogue delay with up to 700ms of MIDI synchronisable delay time completes…
