The Stagg Pop shield is a popscreen for studio condenser microphones. 6.3″ round plastic frame covered with black gauze on both sides, providing excellent suppression of pop noises. It’s mounted on a single metal shaft with a quick release clamp for easy on stand mounting.
Popping sounds occur particularly in the pronunciation of aspirated plosives (such as the first ‘p’ in the English word “popping”). These can cause clipping which in turn makes most sound engineers bang heads on tables.
A pop filter or pop shield is an anti-pop noise protection filter for microphones, typically used in a recording studio.
