The HS3 continue the design philosophy and know-how of previous Yamaha studio monitors. No effort has been spared in the pursuit of the optimal product, and the resulting speakers comprise carefully selecting parts such as a high-performance class-D amp, a highly resilient MDF cabinet, and woofers and soft dome tweeters that deliver a sound that is faithful to the source despite their small size. They also feature proprietary “Twisted Flare Port” technology that reduces air turbulence noise in the bass reflex port, providing clear and accurate bass.
Key Features:
- Tailored to your environment:
The sound produced by speakers is sometimes affected by the surrounding environment. The rear panels of the HS3 are equipped with ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM functions that allow you to make adjustments to achieve the ideal sound for any environment, such as reducing the unneeded, exaggerated low-end that can often occur when speakers are placed next to walls.
- Inputs and controls to fit any use case:
The rear panel of the HS3 is equipped with combination XLR/TRS phone, RCA, and stereo mini jacks, allowing you to connect to a wide range of professional and consumer equipment such as computers, audio interfaces, audio mixers, and electric instruments. The most used feature, power button, volume knob, and headphone jacks, are located in the front for easy access.
- Compact and Portable:
The compact size of the HS3 was made possible thanks to the highly efficient class-D amp. Using one amp for two speakers has enabled us to both reduce the weight of the speakers and simplify the cable connections. They take up little space even in a small bedroom studio, and are easy to take with you on the road.

Yamaha is a giant in the world of synthesizers, having shaped the industry with iconic instruments since the 1970s. One of their earliest and most groundbreaking entries was the **Yamaha CS Series**, including the **CS-80**, which became famous for its expressive analogue sound and polyphonic capabilities. However, it was the launch of the **DX7** in 1983 that truly revolutionised music. The DX7, based on FM synthesis, offered a digital alternative to traditional analogue synths, providing crystal-clear sounds that became defining elements of 1980s pop, rock, and electronic music. Its affordability, reliability, and MIDI compatibility made it a favourite among professionals and amateurs alike.
Building on this legacy, Yamaha has continued to innovate with instruments like the **Motif Series**, combining sampling, synthesis, and sequencing in one powerful workstation. Their **Reface Series**, introduced in 2015, brought classic sounds back in compact, portable form, appealing to both new musicians and vintage enthusiasts. Throughout the years, Yamaha has maintained a reputation for quality, versatility, and innovation, producing synthesizers that are equally at home in professional studios and live performances.

Any equipment destined for the studio is going to be a high-quality instrument designed specifically for use in a studio environment, focusing on in-depth sound design and versatile sound creation. These synthesisers are equipped with powerful sound engines and extensive modulation options, allowing for a wide variety of synthesis methods such as subtractive, FM, wavetable, and granular synthesis. Studio synths prioritise programmability, enabling sound designers and producers to craft unique sounds and textures for various projects, including music recordings, film scores, and game soundtracks.
Unlike portable or compact synths, studio synthesisers often feature a larger form factor, complete with full-sized keyboards, high-quality encoders, sliders, and detailed user interfaces with large displays. They are designed for seamless integration into studio setups, offering multiple inputs, outputs, and MIDI/USB connectivity, as well as DAW control features. Examples include the Nord Lead, Moog One, Korg Prologue, and Roland Jupiter-X, which provide rich features like multi-timbral layers, built-in effects, and advanced sequencing capabilities. Overall, a studio synth is an essential tool for serious producers seeking maximum control and flexibility in their sound design and music production process.
