Sequential is an iconic American synthesizer manufacturer, renowned for its pioneering contributions to the development of analogue and hybrid synthesizers. Founded in 1978 by Dave Smith, the company (initially known as Sequential Circuits) revolutionized the music industry with its Prophet-5, the first fully programmable polyphonic synthesizer with digital patch memory. This groundbreaking instrument allowed musicians to store and recall sounds, making it a landmark development in music technology. The Prophet-5 became a defining instrument of the late 1970s and 1980s, widely used by artists across genres, from pop and rock to electronic and film scoring.
