The Volca FM Marks a bit of a departure for the Korg Volca Series. With it's 100% signal flow, compact design and affordable prices, the Volca series have been hugely popular amongst both seasoned synth players and synth newcomers alike. The Volca FM brings Digital FM synthesis to the series, with classic sounds originally heard on synths like the legendary Yamaha DX7.

The Korg Volca FM brings these classic sounds to the dance music of today, integrating them with a powerful 16-step sequencer and arpeggiator and a really simple to use interface that means you don't need to be a seasoned synth veteran to get some amazing sounds straight away.
In contrast to the warm analogue tones of the other Volca circuits, the Volca FM has a 3-voice polyphonic FM Synthesizer that produces a glassy and more cutting tone pallette. Shaping your tone is easy thanks to the super- easy edit knobs that control multiple parameters at the same time. This makes it easier to understand and quicker to transform your sound into what you're looking for. Conversely, if you are an FM Synth guru, you can make single parameter edits within the volca's menus.

Korg wanted the Volca FM to be more than just the sound of classic FM Synthesis. In the spirit of the Volca series, the Volca FM is your compact and portable source of inspiration, creativity and fun! Once you have found the perfect sound for your track, you have a range of tools to convert a sound into a musical idea.
First off you can quickly create a loop you like using the on board 16-step sequencer. Record your idea and then also record a range of parameter changes at the same time that will bring your sound to life, giving it both movement and extra depth.
You also have a set of sequencer functions including Warp active step, arpeggiator and pattern chain to make even more crazy loops and patterns that create those happy accidents which can lead to fully fledged songs!
